- Download from one source only. Don’t grab the same file from three different Telegram links “to be safe” — that multiplies the risk.
- Look at the file size in your Downloads folder before opening it.
- Read the install screen. Android shows the app name; if it doesn’t match what you expected, cancel.
- Scan it. Google Play Protect scans sideloaded apps when it’s switched on; you can also upload the file to a reputable online virus scanner.
- Review permissions after install under Settings → Apps → the app → Permissions, and switch off anything a card game doesn’t need.
Which permissions should worry you?
A card game needs internet access. It may ask for notifications and, on older Android versions, storage. It has no honest reason to read your SMS (that’s where your bank OTPs arrive), your contacts, your call history, or to use Accessibility — a powerful permission that lets an app read and tap your screen.
