Since 1 May 2026, India’s Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 bars banks and payment systems from processing payments for online money games, so “Add Cash” on real-money card apps is generally blocked or switched off. If someone offers you a personal UPI ID or a “special deposit link” instead, treat it as a scam: don’t pay, keep screenshots and report it on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
Why doesn’t Add Cash work any more?
Because payment facilitation is itself prohibited. Section 7 of the Act stops banks, payment gateways and other intermediaries from facilitating transactions towards online money games, and the Online Gaming Authority of India told banks, app stores and ad platforms in July 2026 to cut those services off. Many apps pulled their deposit screens even earlier, in August 2025, when the law was passed.
| What you might see | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Add Cash button missing | The app has switched to free-play or withdrawal-only |
| Payment fails at the bank step | Your bank or UPI app blocked the merchant |
| “Pay to this UPI ID instead” in chat | High scam risk — do not pay |
| A new APK promising “working deposits” | Likely a clone; see the APK safety guide |

Why are deposit scams more common now?
When the official route closes, fraudsters step in. The common patterns:
- A “support agent” on WhatsApp or Telegram offers to load your wallet if you pay their UPI ID.
- A cloned APK shows a fake balance that grows quickly — then demands a “release fee” to withdraw.
- A link promises “double credit” or a “51 bonus” if you deposit today.
A personal UPI ID, a QR code sent in chat or a request for your UPI PIN is never part of a legitimate game payment. Your PIN only ever goes into your own UPI app.
Money debited, nothing credited — what now?
- Don’t pay again. Repeat payments are how small losses become big ones.
- Save evidence: UTR/transaction ID, amount, time, screenshots of the chat or screen.
- Call 1930 or file at cybercrime.gov.in the same day if you were sent to a personal ID — speed helps a freeze.
- Raise a written dispute with your bank or UPI app and keep the acknowledgement.
- Genuine failed UPI payments usually auto-reverse within the timeline your bank states.
What about money already in a wallet?
That’s a withdrawal question, not a deposit one. Our withdrawal guide covers balances left in apps after the ban, and the withdrawal problem page covers stuck payouts. The teen patti master guide links every wallet topic.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still add cash to Teen Patti Master in India?
Real-money deposits for online money games are prohibited in India since 1 May 2026, and banks are told to block them. Free-chip play doesn’t need deposits.
Is it illegal for me as a player to deposit?
The Act’s penalties target operators, advertisers and payment facilitators rather than players, but your money has no protection and the payment may be blocked. We don’t give legal advice.
Someone on Telegram says they can add cash for me. Is that safe?
No. That’s one of the most common scams since the ban.
My UPI was debited but the app shows nothing. What do I do?
Don’t pay again, keep the UTR, dispute with your bank and report on 1930 if you paid a personal ID.
Are chip purchases in free games the same thing?
Buying chips that can never be cashed out is how social games work; the law targets games where you stake money expecting money back. Check what the app actually offers.
