Blind vs Seen in Teen Patti: When to Look at Your Cards

Blind play is cheaper but riskier. Seen play costs more but lets you think. Here's how to balance them.

In Teen Patti, a blind player bets without seeing their cards at the current stake (or up to double), while a seen player has looked and must bet at least double the current stake (up to four times). Blind is cheaper early in a small pot; seeing is usually worth it once the pot grows or a seen player starts raising.

Maximum bet2 × current stake4 × current stake

Can ask show?Yes (with one opponent)Usually not against a blind player

Why play blind at all?

  • Cheaper: half the cost per turn.
  • Pressure: a blind player raising can push seen players with weak hands to pack.
  • Information: you watch other players’ betting before committing.

When should you see your cards?

A simple rule of thumb:

  1. See after one or two blind rounds in most games.
  2. See immediately if a seen player raises sharply.
  3. See before the pot reaches around ten times the boot — a growing pot makes informed decisions valuable.

Common blind mistakes

  • Staying blind forever because “luck is on my side”.
  • Raising blind in big pots — you’re betting heavily on a 74% chance of a high card.
  • Forgetting a seen player can’t usually call a show against you, so you may end up in a long, expensive duel.

Frequently asked questions

Is blind play a good strategy?

As a cheap opening, yes. As a whole strategy, no.

Can a blind player ask for a side show?

No. Side shows are between seen players.

Why do seen players pay double?

Because they’re betting with information.

Key takeaways

  • Blind = cheaper, riskier; seen = costlier, informed.
  • See after one or two rounds, or when the pot grows.
  • Use these rules at any table, including in the teen patti master app.
